One of the leading concert organists of his
generation, D'Arcy Trinkwon
is acclaimed as an outstanding exponent
of his craft.
Saluted by the critics as a musician of outstanding talent, he has performed
more than
600 recitals in international concert series and festivals worldwide and
is renowned for his dedication to the organ as a concert instrument.
“D’Arcy
Trinkwon is a master of phrasing and the sensitivity of his artistry
gives new life to the great Romantic works…
Apart from his great awareness of nuances,
it is this gifted musician’s mastery of colour that allows him to
further illuminate unimagined perspectives
in often complex works… Trinkwon earned enthusiastic applause for his
technically immaculate playing
and his great virtuosity. His splendid, but nevertheless subtle virtuosity
combined with considerable
artistic integrity to demonstrate that he is one of the really great
artists of his genre”

His programmes during 2008 will
feature of two great
names
of the organ world in addition to other, typically varied repertoire
Jeanne
Demessieux
1921-1968
Vice-President and Correspondant en Europe of Les Amis de Jeanne
Demessieux,
D'Arcy has always
had a particular fascination for the legendary doyenne
of organists since his first interest in the organ.
2008 marks forty years since
her death - at the age of 47 - of cancer.
D'Arcy will be playing many
of her works this year, including the famed Six Etudes
-
works with which he has become particularly associated as a result
of his numerous performances.
He first performed them in 1994 - then the only organist other than
Demessieux herself
and her pupil Pierre Labric to have done so.
He will give the UK premier of the "Repons pour les Temps
Liturgiques"
Olivier
Messiaen
1908-1992
2008
marks the centenary of the birth of this great composer whose impact
on the organ's repertoire has been so vitally influential.
D'Arcy grew up hearing these
works as chorister at Canterbury Cathedral during the days of Allan Wicks -
who was one of the most important organists in establishing the music in front of
British audiences.
Later, during his teenage years,
he was assistant during Jennifer Bate's
famous recordings made in Beauvais Cathedral.
In
2002 he gave the London premier of Messiaen's then recently discovered Prelude
in a concert endorsed by the composer's wife, the famous pianist
Yvonne Loriod.
He
has given numerous performances of Messiaen's music.
